Cost-cover-ing tariffs are one way of ensuring economic viability for private sector mini-grids. Providing a cost reflective tariff is within the remit of regulators and governments policymakers. In most countries all off-grid/mini-grid developers are required by law to apply for an energy generation, distribution and retailing permit/license and are required to obtain an energy retail tariff approval fromthe regulators.

Verasol revision proposol memo for stakeholder comments

VeraSol has proposed revisions to the IEC 62253:2011, an international standard for Photovoltaic Pumping Systems- Design Qualification and Performance Measurements. The revisions aim to enhance the standard by creating a series of sub-parts. These sub-parts will organize the test methods and standards based on pump category and settings for laboratory and field testing. Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on these proposed revisions by 14th May 2024.

Freetown City Energy Profile

This city energy profile is developed as part of the Enabling African Cities for Transformative Energy Access (ENACT) project being implemented in Freetown, Sierra Leone and Kampala, Uganda, by ICLEI Africa and Energy 4 Impact – Mercy Corps. It aims to provide an overview of the energy landscape in Sierra Leone, especially Freetown, obtained through reviewing policies and energy grant frameworks and identifying public sector levers to enable energy access, including opportunities for improved policies.
