Transformation Stories

Unlocking the potential of clean energy isn’t just about innovation—it’s about transformation.

The TEA platform is driving that transformation by addressing the system as a whole, not just its parts. Through a focus on People, Technology, and Partnerships, TEA is building the foundation for scalable, sustainable energy access. That means empowering professionals with the right skills and data, supporting over 660 cutting-edge technologies and business models, and forging the collaborations needed to tackle deep-rooted challenges—from distribution to finance—that no single player can solve alone.

Reaching last mile markets together

The Global Distributors Collective (GDC) unites and empowers the unsung heroes of development: last mile distributors. These are organisations that bring solar lanterns, clean cookstoves, water filters, nutritional products and other essential items to the hard-to-reach and low-income communities that mainstream markets overlook.

Bringing power to people, one charge at a time

After developing a battery rental service that replaces fossil fuel with solar-generated power, MOPO received TEA support to validate its technology, and enter new markets. MOPO has now passed 28 million battery rentals across sub-Saharan Africa and raised more than £21 million in further investment.

The catalytic impact of grant funding to stimulate wider investment
