The capital continuum: Catalytic finance driving the clean energy transition in Africa” – Carbon Trust & SEforALL
17 November, 10:30-12:15 EET/UTC+2

A successful and inclusive energy transition that delivers universal access to affordable, reliable, efficient and clean modern energy services will require a diverse range of financial mechanisms and access to more capital. Capital is limited with too few funders, whist the “traditional” capital continuum has left significant gaps in the funding available to companies at crucial points in their growth such as during commercialisation and scale up. This session will explore different mechanisms which if successfully implemented and scaled up can help to bridge these gaps and support companies to enter the sector and grow. Speakers include: Lisa Ashford, CEO, Energise Africa, Jonathan Kishibangaya, Head of Product and Supply Chain, Altech, Sarah Alexander, Global Technical Advisor Off Grid Electrification, SNV, Jiwoo Choi, Chief of Strategic Initiatives, Acumen, Kanika Chawla, Chief of Staff SEforAll.

The role of innovation in ensuring no one is left behind no matter their current energy situation
17 November, 15.00-16.00 EET/UTC+2

A successful and inclusive energy transition that delivers universal access to affordable, reliable, efficient and clean modern energy services needs to consider the diverse range of socio-economic situations currently experienced by those that are currently un- or under-served.
